David Payne

David Payne’s Central of Georgia roots are firmly planted at Raymond, Ga.; the former junction of the C-Line and the R-Line. His life-long interest in the CofGa was fueled by 100-car through freights 29 & 44, through locals 89 & 90, locals 36 & 37, and, of course, the Man o’ War.

After 20 years in the Navy Supply Corps and an 18-year career as an accounting instructor at North Metro Technical College, David retired in 2008. He and his wife Shirley, also retired, live near Kennesaw, Ga.
