Fall Meeting Scheduled for October 25, 2025, in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

The fall membership meeting of the Central of Georgia Railway Historical Society, Inc., has been scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Southern Appalachia Railway Museum in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Our meeting will include an opportunity to see the CofGa (and S&A) equipment at the museum.

We’ll also have our annual business meeting (including elections for Board of Directors).

The Museum owns all four of the original Budd passenger cars built in 1947 for the Man o’ War. This includes Fort Mitchell (baggage-passenger), Fort Oglethorpe and Fort McPherson (coaches), and Fort Benning (tavern-observation). (Note that the Fort Oglethorpe is currently on lease to an excursion line and is not at the museum site.) Also at the site is former CofGa GP7 No. 121 (one of four equipped with roof-top air tanks) and former CofGa SD-7 No. 201, as well as a former S&A steel caboose.

This is a unique meeting in a non-CofGa city. Though we won’t have any organized visits, there are several non-railroad museums and sites in the area, some devoted to the history of the Manhattan Project. There are numerous motels in the Oak Ridge area for those wanting to stay overnight.

Specific details were included in a post card mailed to members.

Members should register in advance by sending an e-mail to Society secretary/treasurer Graham Dean at GDean@cofga.org as soon as possible. This will also allow us to notify those attending of any last-minute changes. There is no cost to attend, but we do need to know how many plan to be there.
